Giuliano, Mario Gori are the kings of this ancient, famous "trattoria" that since 1901 it's a mandatory stop for whom wants to taste the traditional tuscany cooking (queen of the kitchen is obviously mamma Irene). Here you can find cacciucco, baccalà alla livornese, acquacotta alla maremmana, pasta e fagioli, farro, zuppe, stracotto, pasta al sugo scappato, the spezzatino, the medioval cake with porri, the roasted meat, the bollito misto and the world-famous bistecca alla fiorentina.

"Burdèl" was the nickname that once upon a time in Florence were called the men that trade with pigs when all of them came from Bologna and Emila Romagna. One of these pig-trader was from Florence and his last name was Barducci, started in 1901 a wine bar that was called "Da Burde" (Da in italian means "By", the french "Chez"). At the beginning the "fiaschetteria" (an ante litteram wine-bar where was possibile eat a complete lunch too) was in the center of the old little village named Peretola. The moving in the nowadays adress was made in 1927.

"Burde" Barducci married a Gori and since that day the wine-bar became owned by the Gori family that still runs the restaurant today. The nephew of Barducci, Turiddo Gori, inheritaded the fiaschetteria and, most important of all, the "Burde" nickname that still in these days all the male Gori descendants of the family carry with them. With her wife Irene, that came from the Valdinievole, a rural valley between Pistoia and Lucca, Turiddo has built for more than sixty years of marriage the living monument for the calling for being an "oste" (italian medioeval word for innkeeper). Since 2005, Irene is no more here but there are her sons Giuliano and Mario and her nephews Paolo e Andrea are the kings of the "bottega". At the beginning of the century Da Burde you could find everything including forage and whips for horses. Event today in front of the restaurant you can find an old-style shop where you can buy tipical tuscany food and drink Chianti wine with all the Peretola and surrounding people that come here after the work to speak about soccer and other village rumours. In Tuscany (and not only here) Burde is famous for his finocchiona and his soprassata, two typical tuscany sliced ham. But most important of all, by Burde still today you can taste the family tuscany cooking, food prepared as it would be prepared for the italian family.

There will be so many stories to tell about this Trattoria, starting from the tactical meeting in which the Fiorentina AC soccer club decided to buy the most famous and world champion fiorentina soccer player, Giancarlo Antognoni (http://www.antognoni.com/) and when Nereo Rocco, italy's most famous trainer of all the time (inventor of the "Calcio all'Italiana" italian way of soccer), signed for training the Fiorentina (http://www.fiorentina.it/home02.asp?IDCategoria=1) team eating a Burde bistecca. Today Burde is still a sure place to go for everyone that wants to talk about business enjoing at the same time a complete meal. And from November 2003 business lunch are easier with the Wi-Fi (link Wi-Fi requirements) zone available for Burde customers!

Ok, I know it's a good steak..but...It's too far from the city center!!! Vote to food: 9 Vote to location: 4 There are so many good places for steak in town like Perseus, Brindellone, Beccaio, Giannino....

Una bistecca davvero eccellente e in generale buona cucina.... Unico neo...è in Via Pistoiese, non il massimo, mi unisco a Carlo, ma comunque posto consigliato!

La location di questo posto non è certo il top....ma una volta entrati nel ristorante dimenticherete tutto e sarete conquistati dagli odori, dalla vista, dai sapori di una vera trattoria toscana. Senza turisti. Lontana dal centro. Vera.
